Sadly, it does not surprise me that the outreach for support post-election yielded a 700% increase in chat and text services at The Trevor Project. On one hand, it's a blessing that the community has such a resource (amongst others in the United States), but it's also saddening that the need has increased so drastically.
The election has been what a majority of what the nation has been discussing leading up to November 5th. Calls into The Trevor Project related to Election Day increased by a whopping 5,200%.
Now, more than ever, our youth need protection, comfort in knowing they will be safe, and defense by those who can and will fight for our youth.
